South Korean President Lee Jae Myung met with Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority of Abu Dhabi, on Friday to explore deeper cooperation between South Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The meeting, held at Cheong Wa Dae, underscored the ongoing partnership efforts initiated during Lee’s state visit to the UAE last November.
President Lee emphasized the importance of expanding the bilateral relationship and acknowledged the UAE’s recent prioritization of crude oil supplies to South Korea this past March. He highlighted the potential for collaboration in various sectors, including defense, artificial intelligence, nuclear energy, and cultural exchange, urging for more robust communication to translate these opportunities into tangible projects.
Al Mubarak, bringing greetings from UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, recognized South Korea as a vital partner. He noted that their cooperation has broadened beyond traditional energy and infrastructure sectors to include investments in space exploration, healthcare, and education.
The dialogue between the two leaders comes at a time of growing expectations for more high-level discussions, potentially leading to a summit in South Korea next month. This visit marks a step towards strengthening coordination based on mutual trust, aiming to convert strategic discussions into actionable initiatives.
