The United Arab Emirates has embarked on a national initiative titled “Pledge and Commitment,” which calls on its citizens and residents to express their loyalty to President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This campaign acknowledges his pivotal role in enhancing the nation’s security, stability, and international stature. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan unveiled the initiative at a significant event held at the Abu Dhabi Energy Centre, which saw participation from over 4,800 individuals, including citizens, residents, students, investors, academics, and business leaders.
Designed to spotlight the President’s contributions to the country’s development, the campaign is anchored on four fundamental principles: fostering unity and coexistence, drawing inspiration from leadership values, reinforcing civic responsibility and national identity, and showing appreciation for the nation’s prosperity and stability. The initiative has been expanded to the digital realm through a dedicated website and QR code, enabling widespread participation across the UAE. Organizers plan to sustain this effort through collaborations with businesses, universities, and community groups, complemented by multilingual online interactions and public events.
This campaign arises following a period of heightened national unity after regional security concerns earlier this year. There’s been a noticeable rise in public displays of patriotism, with UAE flags prominently displayed at homes, workplaces, and public buildings. This surge in national pride aligns with calls from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to honor the country’s resilience and unity.
The pledge itself is a declaration of loyalty and support for President Sheikh Mohamed, highlighting his role as a protector of the nation’s security and a promoter of progress. It also emphasizes his exemplary dedication and service to the country. Those who participate by signing the pledge online receive a digital certificate of appreciation, which can be downloaded and shared as a token of their commitment.
