The United Arab Emirates has expressed its support for a U.S. call for an immediate and unconditional humanitarian truce in Sudan, aligning with international efforts to resolve the ongoing conflict. UAE Minister of State Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan emphasized the UAE’s commitment to fostering a political process aimed at establishing a civilian government in Sudan.
Sheikh Shakhboot underscored the importance of protecting civilians and addressing the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the region. He stressed the urgency of ending hostilities and initiating a comprehensive political dialogue to pave the way for stability and peace.
In addition to advocating for a truce, the UAE has called for the expansion of the existing United Nations arms embargo to cover all of Sudan. The UAE believes that extending the embargo could help curb the influx of weapons and enhance civilian protection.
The UAE has pledged to continue collaborating with international partners to support a political resolution and alleviate the suffering caused by the conflict in Sudan. This stance highlights the UAE’s broader commitment to contributing to regional peace and stability.
