Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has unveiled an ambitious portfolio of projects valued at Dh2.1 trillion, set to bolster the emirate’s economic growth and enhance its status as a global business hub. Announced at the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum at the Dubai World Trade Centre, this initiative spans sectors including real estate, transport, aviation, energy, and infrastructure.

The cornerstone of this development plan is the real estate sector, which will see an investment of Dh1.1 trillion. This funding is earmarked for the construction of approximately 350,000 residential units by 2030, addressing the increasing housing demand driven by Dubai’s expanding population.

Aviation is also a significant focus of the investment strategy. Al Maktoum International Airport is slated for a Dh128 billion expansion, aiming to accommodate up to 260 million passengers annually. Additionally, Dh328 billion is allocated for the expansion of the Emirates and flydubai fleets, with an extra Dh18.7 billion dedicated to a new Emirates engineering and maintenance complex.

Infrastructure projects are poised to receive substantial funding as well, with Dh100 billion directed towards road improvements and the extension of the Dubai Metro Blue and Gold lines. Further investments include Dh151 billion for expanding electricity and water networks and Dh80 billion for the Dubai Strategic Sewerage Tunnels system.

In the financial sector, Dubai plans to inject Dh100 billion into the second phase of the Dubai International Financial Centre, fortifying its financial services sector and international business infrastructure.

Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the importance of long-term planning and infrastructure development, stating that Dubai will continue to invest ahead of future demand. This extensive project pipeline is reflective of Dubai’s strategy to enhance housing, transport, aviation capacity, and essential services, while promoting economic diversification and attracting international investment.
