President Sheikh Mohamed has approved the waiver of more than Dh475 million in debts for 1,435 Emiratis, providing major financial relief through the Defaulted Debts Settlement Fund. The initiative, carried out in partnership with 19 national banks, targets humanitarian and medical cases, low-income citizens, retirees, and senior citizens. It aims to restore financial stability and ease the burden on families facing economic hardship.

The announcement was made in celebration of the UAE’s National Day, underscoring the leadership’s commitment to citizen welfare and social stability. Debt settlements are processed under strict legal and regulatory criteria, focusing on essential and necessary expenses.

In a parallel initiative, Sheikh Mohamed also approved Abu Dhabi’s third housing benefits package of 2025, valued at Dh4 billion. This package supports 3,310 UAE citizens through housing loans, grants, and ready-built homes, along with loan repayment exemptions for low-income retirees and families of the deceased. It also includes reductions under the Emirati Family Growth programme.

With this new allocation, total housing benefits provided to Abu Dhabi citizens this year have reached Dh15.38 billion, benefiting more than 10,000 citizens. The initiatives reflect the UAE leadership’s continued dedication to improving living standards and strengthening social unity.
